Beauty
Satori grows a long central head bud packed with chunky, heavy flowers, while firm side shoots carry plenty of additional weight. The slender structure fits comfortably into narrow rows or SOG and helps make those famous record yields possible.
And then there are the leaves. Satori can grow some of the largest leaves you may ever see on a cannabis plant, an unmistakable trademark of this Sativa. Let them grow. We do not recommend defoliating Satori or any of our Mandala strains.
Resinous bud leaves add another reward at harvest and can produce exceptional hash, comparable in quality to the famous Nepalese 'temple balls'.

Satori is remarkably easy to cultivate for a Sativa with this kind of performance. In quality soil and a sufficiently large container, feeding can be kept to a minimum.
Her extreme heat resistance makes life easier in warm grow rooms and heatwaves in the summer, while impressive resistance to spider mites and other pests is backed by good mold resistance.

The Meaning of Satori
Although Satori ranks among the most potent strains we have created, it is the quality of the high that has made it so appreciated by creative and spiritually interested people. Potency without quality is simply a waste of potential.
To harness this psychoactive energy and use it for positive transformation is our own personal intent when we use Satori.
The name reflects how the strain can inspire the mind: Satori is a Japanese term in Zen Buddhism associated with awakening or enlightenment and literally means “understanding.”
For us, Satori is an entheogen that can facilitate a higher level of intuitive awareness. Cannabis has been used in spiritual traditions to change consciousness, open the “third eye” and look beyond the limitations of the ordinary, ego-centered mind.
A New Generation of Sativa
When we created Satori, most cerebral Sativas were challenging to grow indoors, yielded poorly unless cultivated hydroponically, and often required 14 weeks or more to flower. This led to many growers abandoning Sativa altogether and settling for commercial hybrids.
During the 1990s, increasingly potent Sativa hybrids were appearing on the European seed market, but potency alone was never what we were looking for. A cerebral high could also become racy, jittery and mentally scattered, sometimes accompanied by anxiety, paranoia or a pounding heart.
We were convinced there had to be another way.
Our goal was ambitious: preserve the exceptional creative and cerebral Sativa high in its pure form, while introducing the vigorous growth, dense buds, high yields and shorter flowering time normally associated with Indica hybrids.
The breakthrough came from a very rare female discovered in our personal collection of Nepali landrace genetics. Exceptionally potent and cerebral, she became the foundation for further breeding. The result was unlike the Sativas growers were accustomed to: enormous stems and trademark leaves, stout growth and dense, heavy buds, all achievable simply in soil.
Satori has remained an ongoing breeding project at Mandala Seeds ever since. We continue to test the parental breeding lines, searching large populations for outstanding plants to refresh and maintain the cross.
Twenty years of careful selection later, the goal remains the same: protect the qualities that made Satori extraordinary in the first place.

This is a powerful Sativa for connoisseurs who want more than potency alone. The experience is exceptionally creative, clear and long-lasting, without the jarring, jittery character that can make some potent Sativas uncomfortable. Once you experience the Satori high, it is difficult to mistake it for anything else.
The plants themselves are equally distinctive. Satori combines a relatively slender Sativa growth pattern with incredibly large stems and trademark leaves that can reach astonishing dimensions. Long central colas develop chunky, heavy flowers, while firm side shoots support additional high-quality buds and provide excellent cuttings for keeping favourite females as mother plants. Despite the enormous leaves, we do not recommend defoliation. The natural growth pattern works very efficiently and allows plants to be cultivated in narrow rows or SOG for maximum use of indoor space.
Satori is also remarkably easy to grow for a Sativa with this kind of performance. In quality horticultural soil and a sufficiently large container, the plants require very little feeding and can almost take care of themselves. The vigorous root system and efficient nutrient uptake allow huge leaf, stem and bud development at comparatively low nutrient levels. Hydroponic growers should likewise keep EC levels moderate rather than pushing the plants with excessive feeding.
Hardiness has always been another valuable Satori trait. The plants show impressive resistance to spider mites and other pests, combined with a good measure of mold resistance. Heat resistance makes Satori especially useful in smaller indoor environments where temperatures can rise quickly, as well as during hot summer cultivation.
At flowering, the contrast between the plant's Sativa character and the weight of its buds becomes particularly striking. Heavy flowers develop along the long head bud and side shoots, producing the record yields for which Satori became famous. Harvest is straightforward because the buds are easy to manicure. Even the resinous bud leaves are worth keeping: they can produce outstanding hash that we have compared in quality to the famous Nepalese temple balls.
The aroma adds another dimension. Sweet and fruity notes mingle with spice to create a rich fragrance that remains recognizably Satori. You may also find the bubblegum pheno and other aromatic gems.
Ultimately, people have been coming back to Satori for two decades because of what happens after you smoke it. The high is powerful and deeply cerebral, yet remarkably clear. Creativity can become intense, ideas connect easily and spontaneous insights may appear without the nervous, scattered feeling that sometimes accompanies strong Sativas. The effect lasts for hours and can lend itself equally well to creative work, music, nature, contemplation and other more introverted consciousness explorations.

Give the seed embryo the best chance to emerge from its shell. If you grow organically, investing in quality seedling soil is one of the simplest ways to get your plants off to a healthy start. We have seen many germination problems caused by peat pellets and Jiffy tabs, where the acidic pH can interfere with germination. Coco coir bricks and other compressed growing blocks can also result in poor germination rates.
There is no need to soak our seeds or use other pre-germination methods. We recommend planting them directly into seedling soil. We cannot accept responsibility for germination results when seeds are soaked in water or germinated in paper tissues.
WARNING: Do NOT lower the pH of your water with acids such as “pH-Down” products containing nitric or phosphoric acid. These can be fatal to young seedlings when growing in soil. We have used inexpensive vinegar to lower the pH of our water for 35 years. It is non-toxic and harmless to the plants when used correctly.

I am 62 and have been smoking grass since I was 14. Not everyday until twenty years back, I have been growing for the last twenty. A friend recommended Satori. I’m not easily persuaded. I have never been so blistered!!! This is the most powerful strain I have ever tried and she is beautiful all the way through.

Satori was given until end of October with outstanding results! Usually because of Michigan weather you have to cut 1-2nd week of October. Dozens of colas on Satori, 14-19 inches long and quite large on a 4 foot high plant.

... ich habe schon ca. 2006 eine Mutter selektiert die mir immer bestes Weed geliefert hat. Leider konnte ich sie damals nicht behalten, in der Zwischenzeit habe ich unzählige Sorten queer durch die Seedbanks gezogen, kein Strain, keine anderen classics oder US/CAN Sorten konnte die Satori insgesamt toppen. Alles in allem nach wie vor die beste Pflanze die zu bekommen ist. Gebt Ihr 20 Liter gute Erde und sie ist happy. Ganz selten musste ich ein wenig Blütedünger geben. Die Buds sind eher fluffy, riechen sehr gut zitronig und das Ganja ist sehr stark. Bis heute reden die homies von der Satori...Ich freue mich sehr darauf sie wieder zu growen.

I've tried several of Mandala's strains in the past and Satori is always a stand out, I hadn't purchased any seeds internationally for at least 10 years now and I was hesitant at first but I had to give it a shot, Mandala delivered stealthily and quickly to Australia without any issues. Satori was one of my favorite grows of all time. From two seeds I got two phenotypes which both were exceptional in every respect. Amazingly both were female in spite of being non-feminized seeds. One plant was taller with a slightly less skunky smell, but I could barely discern a difference in the effects upon vaporizing. They both handled extreme heat, needed very little fertilizing, had no disease or pests, came in well before danger of first frost, and overall were among the 2 the most satisfying harvests I've had since medical legalization in 2016. Even constricted to large pots, the larger plant weighed in at 481g after dry. Perfect balance of sativa head high with just enough indica for back pain relief. Highly recommended for medical and recreational growers alike.
