Surfer's High

Speed Queen ruled Mandala gardens for more than a decade before leaving our catalogue. Growers kept asking for her return, and we listened.

This vigorous Indica earned a loyal following for fast flowering, legendary resilience, and her "Surfer's High".

Now the Queen is back!

Hard to Kill

Speed Queen is possibly the ultimate low-maintenance cannabis strain.

Thick stems, fleshy leaves, compact growth, and great root development make her remarkably tough.

Heat, cold, wind, drought and grower mistakes rarely knock her down.

Pest resistance is exceptional too. Plants can remain immaculate while whiteflies, spider mites and thrips attack strains growing nearby.

No wonder breeders use Speed Queen to inject her toughness into tired genetics.

Speed Queen is one of our ultimate low-maintenance strains and a favourite among breeders, outdoor and guerrilla growers seeking robust, fast-flowering genetics with easy plant care.

One of our top ‘Hard-2-Kill’ marijuana varieties, this short and vigorous Indica with the legendary ‘Surfer’s High’ was a Mandala favourite for more than a decade. After receiving countless requests for a sequel, we are delighted to welcome Speed Queen back into our catalogue by popular demand.

The plants impress from the very start. Seedlings quickly develop fleshy, broad leaves and a treelike main stem with ultra-thick reinforced internodes. Growth remains squat and broad, making Speed Queen ideal for smaller grow spaces, incognito balconies and discreet outdoor cultivation. Root development is equally impressive, ensuring fast and efficient nutrient absorption.

Speed Queen thrives in organic soil with minimal intervention. Give the plants rich soil and sufficient root space and they can practically be left to themselves.

Indoors, 3.5–5 litre Air-Pots can be used from start to finish, and close planting works well for single-cola plants. Due to the low stretch, this is not a typical strain for LST or SCROG. Growers who prefer multi-branch plants can prune the top shoot early and allow a week or more of additional vegetative growth.

The name comes from her quick flowering and early finish. Resinous bud clusters develop rapidly from top to bottom, and flowering can initiate almost automatically once the plants reach sufficient size, giving Speed Queen an almost ‘semi-automatic’ character. A 20/4 light cycle during vegetative growth is recommended when aiming for the full four-week growth period, particularly under lower light levels.

A special feature is the remarkably low odor during flowering. Combined with the compact stature, this makes Speed Queen particularly useful for discreet balcony and outdoor cultivation.

Outdoors, her toughness really comes into its own. Ultra-thick stems and compact growth make the plants highly storm proof, while strong heat and cold resistance help them cope with difficult conditions.

Speed Queen is forgiving of cultivation mistakes and recovers quickly. Pest resistance is exceptionally high. Plants often remain in immaculate condition while nearby strains are attacked by whiteflies, spider mites and thrips.

Growers who need shorter plants for balconies, greenhouses or outdoor plots can simply start later in the season. In the northern hemisphere, seeds can be germinated through the end of May or first week of June. Earlier starts allow the plants to reach their maximum potential. At 46°N and farther north, harvest generally finishes by mid-October and plants can survive near-freezing cold spells. In Mediterranean climates, harvest can be ready by the end of September or earlier.

Speed Queen also has considerable value for breeders. It can be used to revitalize fatigued genetics, reduce plant height and flowering time, and introduce greater resistance to temperature extremes, wind, pests, drought and other environmental stress.

The aroma ranges from delicious tangerine and citrus to spicy-skunky notes with minty undertones.

The cerebral high is thought-provoking yet calming, lifting the mood while helping stress melt away. It’s a great smoke for winding down, feeling good and enjoying recreational activities.

That’s why we call it the ‘Surfer’s High’.

Broad spectrum use.

Our organic cannabis seeds are fresh, fully ripened and handcrafted. Each batch is pre-tested for 100% germination and can be easily germinated directly in quality seedling soil.

In Europe, Compo Sana Seedling Mix is an excellent choice. Popular options in North America include Burpee Seed Starting Mix, Pro-Mix Organic Seed Starting Mix and Fox Farm Light Warrior Seed Starter.

Give the seed embryo the best chance to emerge from its shell. If you grow organically, investing in quality seedling soil is one of the simplest ways to get your plants off to a healthy start. We have seen many germination problems caused by peat pellets and Jiffy tabs, where the acidic pH can interfere with germination. Coco coir bricks and other compressed growing blocks can also result in poor germination rates.

There is no need to soak our seeds or use other pre-germination methods. We recommend planting them directly into seedling soil. We cannot accept responsibility for germination results when seeds are soaked in water or germinated in paper tissues.

WARNING: Do NOT lower the pH of your water with acids such as “pH-Down” products containing nitric or phosphoric acid. These can be fatal to young seedlings when growing in soil. We have used inexpensive vinegar to lower the pH of our water for 35 years. It is non-toxic and harmless to the plants when used correctly.

For soil cultivation, the correct water pH is 6.2–6.5. Please consult our Water & pH Guide for more information.

We accept Paypal, bank transfer, credit/debit card, Bitcoin and Western Union.

Einfach super !

Speed Queen! Thank you, Mandala!!!

I grow for my wife. I can’t partake until I am retired due to my employment. Speed Queen has quickly become our favorite strain—especially for my wife, who is sensitive to cannabis that causes anxiety or a racing heart.
The plants grew compact and bushy with very little stretch during flowering, making them easy to manage in an indoor setup. Yields were impressive, and the buds were coated in trichomes. During flowering, the garden filled with a sweet, pleasant fragrance that made the entire grow a joy. In late flower, the plants developed stunning fall colors—truly beautiful, like watching autumn leaves change.
After drying and curing, the buds smelled like mandarin or tangerine with an earthy, herbal, and slightly minty undertone. The flavor and aroma are both smooth and complex.
The effects: My wife describes the experience as a sense of calm, well-being, and total relaxation—no anxiety, no racing heart. It’s excellent for stress relief, muscle aches, and deep, restful sleep. It’s the first strain she’s felt 100% comfortable with, and it has become her go-to for both daytime unwinding and nighttime rest. Thank you, Mandala Seeds, for creating such a well-balanced and reliable strain. Speed Queen is a true gem, and we’ll be growing it again. Additionally, we hope to purchase your Rishi Kush when you offer it again.

Outdoor Speed Queen photo contest.

I m really glad that speed queen is back available to order. The thick stem and fast growth make it a great strain for gorilla growing. It can hold up the big buds without having to be tied up. I used one pinch of organic Nutrients. They never showed any need for feeding and only got greener as the year got later. I take 2 trains and a bus for 4 hours round trip. I don't have a car. I rely on Mandala strains. I take the young plants in plastic containers in my backpack. They get bent up some but bounce back in just a couple hours of planting. I water good then stick the root ball in a plastic bag. Then I plant in the holes without watering. Almost everyone has made it. I couldn't do this with weak slow growing plants. Speed Queen is a hardy easy to grows plant. I do very little effort to get these results. I just love growing. I give most of it to friends. I just thought about it. IV e ordered 4 time in 2022. I'm a seed freak, almost all Mandala. Thanks Devi, Mike and Jasmine.

Grows fast, unkillable, nice and special terps (hash). I like this strain and will cross it with something like a mandala sativa.

Nice Strain but 5/5 Female

I want to use the Speed Queen for interbreeding with other strains. Unfortunately there was no male between my seeds. Maybe next round. The plants are very nice so far.

Speed Queen

I've only just started this batch although I have grown this strain years ago and they are still one of my favourite fast growing indicas, I had to include it in my latest order, speaking of which I had absolutely no problems with delivery to Australia, Mandala's stealth packaging is top notch and made it through without a problem, I can't wait to order more beans very soon, Mandala is my favourite breeder without a doubt

Great seeds great shipping

It's my first ever grow and I've already made one or 2 small mistakes but these Speed Queen seedlings are showing absolutely no stress at all and are growing super fast and look very green and healthy. 100% germination on the seeds I planted and they came up even faster than the other 2 mandala strains I got. Thanks for the cool freebies and for the great stealth shipping all the way to NZ!

speed queen

I'm a month into flower. the name is misleading.

Hi there, please have a bit more patience - you're at the halfway mark. This is not an autoflowering strain. She flowers almost two months indoors if you start from seeds (clones finish faster). The type of lamp and light intensity can also affect flowering time. Wishing you much success! Mandala Seeds

Outstanding service

Had a problem with the mail, contacted Mandela and they were going to send a new shipment right away. Ironically, my order showed up the next day, so there was no need for them to send another. Seeds that I obtained have 100% germination, and are very vigorous.

Hope for high alpine climat outdoor farmers

Speed Queen
25 years ago we did grow outdoor at more than 1400 m.a.s. in the Swiss alps huge fields with thousands of cannabis plants. With temperatures below zero and high humidity most plants would start rotting and get grey if not harvested before peak or maturity.
We had fields with 2 metre Nepalese Indica that would shine even more and survive all other genetics by far!! So we called it "the Beast " !! As the police did destroy all our seeds, after many years of adapting and inbreeding I was looking for a long time to get those real high altitude Ganja with the most clear euphoric high as I could not find in any other weed I have grown!!!
When I saw Speed Queen's description I was convinced to have found my lost jewel and I have ordered 50 seeds to get endless seeds for the rest of my life!!! As a biological farmer I always work with my own bred regular seeds and I am very happy. Mandala is one of few seed companies I Wish to support for their natural way of breeding!!! Go for It!!

Sunny day in a flower

The title of this review is about the best way to put it. Warm sun on your skin, smile on your face. It doesn't "dumb" you down. You're simply very chill. Doesn't weight you down. You're just choosing to take your time. It's a beautiful high! Grow the whole pack to find the winner, it's worth it! As with all Mandala genetics, this one has its own special effect. These genetics are what "being high" should be.

Happy memories and something for the future..

Note that this is a review based on the previous version of SQ and I will update with this new iteration in time. Very small indoor grow space was used, roughly a .5 x 1.5 with approx 1.7m height. 250w cooltube (remember those?!) with active extraction and passive intakes. Ended up with 3 ladies that were all pretty similar, one was quite distinct with stockier growth and stubby branches and did not take so well to the LST as the others.
The compact growth was a real plus in a crowded small space and some branches and quite a few leaves were removed to accommodate all three. Beautiful bulky buds formed on the miniature shrubs despite their restricted roots in small 7.5l containers, they took my heavy handed feeding very well (please follow Mandala's guide though). Aroma and flavour are a distant memory now but as you'd expect there was one distinct winner out of the three. Everyone who sampled was struck by the great effects of the buds as it was very different to all the commercial stuff around... even got some folks who'd given up toking, sampling and singing it's praises. I can say that the breeder description is spot on as I remember this plant and I'm looking forward to being reunited with an old friend :)

Wishes do come true.

I had some Speed Queen growing outdoors in 2009 i think. I think I still have progression picks. They were knee high when I put them out. They have a thick stem and big sticky buds. In 24 days they went from knee high to 7 foot bushes. A hurricane came through the year after Katrina. The eye crossed Indiana with 75 mph winds. They held up and budded. When they finished looked like how trees that grow on windy slopes have all the limbs on one side. Every year I thought about Speed Queen. That was the same year Mike and Jasmin had some fem. Mandala #1 seeds. Ill be ordering soon.
