Surfer's High
Speed Queen ruled Mandala gardens for more than a decade before leaving our catalogue. Growers kept asking for her return, and we listened.
This vigorous Indica earned a loyal following for fast flowering, legendary resilience, and her "Surfer's High".
Now the Queen is back!
Hard to Kill
Speed Queen is possibly the ultimate low-maintenance cannabis strain.
Thick stems, fleshy leaves, compact growth, and great root development make her remarkably tough.
Heat, cold, wind, drought and grower mistakes rarely knock her down.
Pest resistance is exceptional too. Plants can remain immaculate while whiteflies, spider mites and thrips attack strains growing nearby.
No wonder breeders use Speed Queen to inject her toughness into tired genetics.

Speed Queen is one of our ultimate low-maintenance strains and a favourite among breeders, outdoor and guerrilla growers seeking robust, fast-flowering genetics with easy plant care.
One of our top ‘Hard-2-Kill’ marijuana varieties, this short and vigorous Indica with the legendary ‘Surfer’s High’ was a Mandala favourite for more than a decade. After receiving countless requests for a sequel, we are delighted to welcome Speed Queen back into our catalogue by popular demand.
The plants impress from the very start. Seedlings quickly develop fleshy, broad leaves and a treelike main stem with ultra-thick reinforced internodes. Growth remains squat and broad, making Speed Queen ideal for smaller grow spaces, incognito balconies and discreet outdoor cultivation. Root development is equally impressive, ensuring fast and efficient nutrient absorption.
Speed Queen thrives in organic soil with minimal intervention. Give the plants rich soil and sufficient root space and they can practically be left to themselves.
Indoors, 3.5–5 litre Air-Pots can be used from start to finish, and close planting works well for single-cola plants. Due to the low stretch, this is not a typical strain for LST or SCROG. Growers who prefer multi-branch plants can prune the top shoot early and allow a week or more of additional vegetative growth.
The name comes from her quick flowering and early finish. Resinous bud clusters develop rapidly from top to bottom, and flowering can initiate almost automatically once the plants reach sufficient size, giving Speed Queen an almost ‘semi-automatic’ character. A 20/4 light cycle during vegetative growth is recommended when aiming for the full four-week growth period, particularly under lower light levels.
A special feature is the remarkably low odor during flowering. Combined with the compact stature, this makes Speed Queen particularly useful for discreet balcony and outdoor cultivation.
Outdoors, her toughness really comes into its own. Ultra-thick stems and compact growth make the plants highly storm proof, while strong heat and cold resistance help them cope with difficult conditions.
Speed Queen is forgiving of cultivation mistakes and recovers quickly. Pest resistance is exceptionally high. Plants often remain in immaculate condition while nearby strains are attacked by whiteflies, spider mites and thrips.
Growers who need shorter plants for balconies, greenhouses or outdoor plots can simply start later in the season. In the northern hemisphere, seeds can be germinated through the end of May or first week of June. Earlier starts allow the plants to reach their maximum potential. At 46°N and farther north, harvest generally finishes by mid-October and plants can survive near-freezing cold spells. In Mediterranean climates, harvest can be ready by the end of September or earlier.
Speed Queen also has considerable value for breeders. It can be used to revitalize fatigued genetics, reduce plant height and flowering time, and introduce greater resistance to temperature extremes, wind, pests, drought and other environmental stress.
The aroma ranges from delicious tangerine and citrus to spicy-skunky notes with minty undertones.
The cerebral high is thought-provoking yet calming, lifting the mood while helping stress melt away. It’s a great smoke for winding down, feeling good and enjoying recreational activities.
That’s why we call it the ‘Surfer’s High’.
Broad spectrum use.
Our organic cannabis seeds are fresh, fully ripened and handcrafted. Each batch is pre-tested for 100% germination and can be easily germinated directly in quality seedling soil.
In Europe, Compo Sana Seedling Mix is an excellent choice. Popular options in North America include Burpee Seed Starting Mix, Pro-Mix Organic Seed Starting Mix and Fox Farm Light Warrior Seed Starter.
Give the seed embryo the best chance to emerge from its shell. If you grow organically, investing in quality seedling soil is one of the simplest ways to get your plants off to a healthy start. We have seen many germination problems caused by peat pellets and Jiffy tabs, where the acidic pH can interfere with germination. Coco coir bricks and other compressed growing blocks can also result in poor germination rates.
There is no need to soak our seeds or use other pre-germination methods. We recommend planting them directly into seedling soil. We cannot accept responsibility for germination results when seeds are soaked in water or germinated in paper tissues.
WARNING: Do NOT lower the pH of your water with acids such as “pH-Down” products containing nitric or phosphoric acid. These can be fatal to young seedlings when growing in soil. We have used inexpensive vinegar to lower the pH of our water for 35 years. It is non-toxic and harmless to the plants when used correctly.
For soil cultivation, the correct water pH is 6.2–6.5. Please consult our Water & pH Guide for more information.
