Alpen Mandala

Alpen Mandala (aka Alpine Mandala) is an exceptionally hardy outdoor strain developed by Alpindica Seeds in Carinthia, Austria.

Years in the making, it has already earned a strong and enthusiastic following among local growers. Its genetics bring together our Mandala #1 with famous old-school strains including Pine Tar Kush, Purple Urkle and Swiss Erdbeerli.

This is a functional strain bred for real outdoor environments, combining northern resilience, reliability and proven performance for shorter seasons and challenging climates.

The plants develop a natural Christmas-tree structure with a dominant main stem and evenly spaced side branches. They are easy to manage outdoors and respond well to training when needed.

For outdoor cultivation, we recommend sowing in mid-May, ideally directly into open ground. Organic fertilizers or living soil deliver the best results, although the plants also tolerate moderate amounts of mineral fertilizer without issue.

At 47°N, Alpen Mandala typically matures between the last week of September and mid-October. Strong resistance to fungal diseases helps the plants handle even a rainy autumn. Indoor growers can expect a flowering time of only 8–9 weeks.

During flowering, the colourful buds carry a tart, forest-like and peppery aroma, with a heavy sweetness developing toward harvest. Depending on the phenotype, this can include notes of rose, fine hashish, ripe berries and a hint of lemon.

Once dried, the buds develop an intense aroma that easily fills a room. The flavour is sweet and velvety, with a long-lasting finish on the palate. Smoke or vapor can strongly resemble PEZ candy in its various flavours, likely a trait inherited from the Haribo parent.

The effect is complex and consistently described by users as unique. Within the traditional Indica-Sativa framework, Alpen Mandala leans toward the Sativa side. It is well suited to outdoor activities, creative work and mental focus, with virtually no tolerance buildup reported.

The influence of Mandala #1 contributes to an embracing, uplifting character without the paranoia or discomfort that can accompany some Sativa-leaning strains. Users also report an easing of anxiety.

The consensus is a distinctive “happy high” in true Mandala tradition.

Give the seed embryo the best chance to emerge from its shell. If you grow organically, investing in quality seedling soil is one of the simplest ways to get your plants off to a healthy start. We have seen many germination problems caused by peat pellets and Jiffy tabs, where the acidic pH can interfere with germination. Coco coir bricks and other compressed growing blocks can also result in poor germination rates.

There is no need to soak our seeds or use other pre-germination methods. We recommend planting them directly into seedling soil. We cannot accept responsibility for germination results when seeds are soaked in water or germinated in paper tissues.

WARNING: Do NOT lower the pH of your water with acids such as “pH-Down” products containing nitric or phosphoric acid. These can be fatal to young seedlings when growing in soil. We have used inexpensive vinegar to lower the pH of our water for 35 years. It is non-toxic and harmless to the plants when used correctly.
