Hang Loose
California Dream brings together Mexican and Afghan genetics in a classic combination that takes us back to an earlier era of cannabis breeding.
The Mexican parent contributes the lively Sativa character, while the Afghan heritage adds weight, dense trichomes and the old-school taste that makes this hybrid so satisfying.
It’s real old school with plenty of personality, and an excellent reminder of why these genetics became classics in the first place. Great value for money!
Cash Crop
This is where California Dream earns its name. The plants grow remarkably uniform from seed, then load up with chunky conical buds and distinctive towers of swollen, resin-soaked calyxes.
The flowers just keep packing on weight, turning into big, heavy colas with reliable resin production across the crop. Grow a room full of California Dream and you can expect that same abundance from plant to plant. It’s a beautiful sight when everything comes together at harvest.

California Dream really is a dream to grow. The plants are highly stress-resistant and forgiving of common mistakes, making this one of those strains where beginners can pull off a harvest they’ll be proud of without years of experience behind them.
She can perform surprisingly well in a modest indoor setup, even under low light. Give her stronger light and the yield takes off, but keep the feeding sensible: California Dream prefers a balanced soil mix and isn't a ‘nutrient hog’.
Another Mandala strain that makes life pleasantly uncomplicated.

Aroma & Effects
The old-school flavour is followed by a quick-hitting high that lights you up with a cheerful, lively Sativa energy. It stays positive and comfortable without tipping into the edgy side effects that can take the fun out of a cerebral high.
This is cannabis for hanging loose, having fun with friends, or simply checking out of the daily routine for a while. The effect lasts, the mood stays bright, and sometimes a little mind vacation is exactly what you need.

California Dream brings together classic Mexican and Afghan genetics in an old-school hybrid with plenty of character. The Mexican side brings the lively Sativa spirit, while the Afghan heritage adds resin, substance and that wonderful old-school taste. It’s a straightforward combination that simply works, and one that has surprised many growers with just how much quality and performance you get for the price.
California Dream really is a dream to grow. The plants are highly stress-resistant and forgiving of common mistakes, making this a great strain for beginners without limiting what experienced growers can get out of it. Plants grown from seed are remarkably homogeneous, with similar height, appearance and flowering behaviour across the crop. You won't be juggling wildly different phenotypes just when things start getting interesting.
Flowering kicks in quickly after switching to 12/12 and progresses at a steady pace. With three to four weeks of vegetative growth in soil, plants generally reach around one meter indoors under standard lighting, with relatively little variation. The uniform growth works very well in SOG and also shows good potential for SCROG.
One of the more unusual qualities of California Dream is how well she copes with low light. Even 200W HPS or low-wattage LED setups can give good results, although stronger light will, of course, increase the yield and bring out the full potential.
She prefers a balanced soil mix without excessive nitrogen and isn't a “nutrient hog,” so there is little reason to push the feeding.
Once flowering gets underway, California Dream starts showing what she can really do. The attractive conical buds stack towers of swollen, resin-soaked calyxes and keep getting fatter as harvest approaches. Some flowers are denser than others, but the differences are minor. Resin production is reliable from plant to plant.
For SOG cultivation, we recommend removing the shoots from the bottom three internodes to strengthen the upper branches. Otherwise, there is no need to make plant care complicated. Mold resistance is high, which is particularly welcome when you're growing colas this fat.
Outdoors, California Dream can be grown in temperate regions where the weather remains favorable until harvest around mid-September. She has performed as far north as 50°N, although northern growers should always keep one of our dedicated outdoor strains as backup in case autumn turns exceptionally wet.
After harvest, the Mexican and Afghan heritage comes through again in the old-school taste and character of the smoke. The high hits quickly and spreads through both body and mind, bringing a cheerful sense of well-being with a lively Sativa vibe. It has plenty of energy and personality without the edgy side effects that can spoil an otherwise enjoyable cerebral high.
California Dream is the kind of weed that makes you want to hang loose for a while. Smoke it with friends and let the good mood take over, or take a little mind vacation and see where it leads. Easy cultivation, fat resinous buds, generous yields and a happy, long-lasting high make this one dream that's very easy to get into.
Broad spectrum use.
Our organic cannabis seeds are fresh, fully ripened and handcrafted. Each batch is pre-tested for 100% germination and can be easily germinated directly in quality seedling soil.
In Europe, Compo Sana Seedling Mix is an excellent choice. Popular options in North America include Burpee Seed Starting Mix, Pro-Mix Organic Seed Starting Mix and Fox Farm Light Warrior Seed Starter.
Give the seed embryo the best chance to emerge from its shell. If you grow organically, investing in quality seedling soil is one of the simplest ways to get your plants off to a healthy start. We have seen many germination problems caused by peat pellets and Jiffy tabs, where the acidic pH can interfere with germination. Coco coir bricks and other compressed growing blocks can also result in poor germination rates.
There is no need to soak our seeds or use other pre-germination methods. We recommend planting them directly into seedling soil. We cannot accept responsibility for germination results when seeds are soaked in water or germinated in paper tissues.
WARNING: Do NOT lower the pH of your water with acids such as “pH-Down” products containing nitric or phosphoric acid. These can be fatal to young seedlings when growing in soil. We have used inexpensive vinegar to lower the pH of our water for 35 years. It is non-toxic and harmless to the plants when used correctly.
For soil cultivation, the correct water pH is 6.2–6.5. Please consult our Water & pH Guide for more information.
