Exotic Landrace Genetics

Kalichakra brings together unique landrace genetics from South India and the Golden Triangle, two legendary regions of Asian cannabis culture.

The name was inspired by the Indian goddess Kali, consort of the ganja-smoking Lord Shiva, giving this Sativa a fitting connection to the ancient cannabis traditions of India.

From these exotic roots comes a surprisingly adaptable strain that feels equally at home in a modern indoor garden.

Towers of Calyxes

Kalichakra develops fat, conical buds that often peak in impressive towers of stacked calyxes. The long-head-bud phenotype is the one to watch for if maximum yield or a keeper mother is on your mind.

The open Sativa structure allows light to penetrate deep into the plant, helping flowering shoots develop all the way down.

An exceptionally high calyx-to-leaf ratio means those substantial buds also come with a welcome bonus: harvest is quick and easy.

Sativa Made Easy

Unlike many tropical Sativas, Kalichakra grows extremely well indoors and has even produced satisfactory results under low light. She adapts readily to SOG, SCROG and hydroponics, while abundant cloning makes it easy to keep a favourite plant going.

The open growth pattern distributes light naturally. Training is optional unless height becomes an issue. Low odor also makes Kalichakra an excellent stealth strain.

Add good mold resistance and forgiving cultivation, and these exotic landrace genetics become surprisingly accessible even for beginners.

Aroma & Effects

Sweet and minty flavours accompany most of the fragrant buds, followed by a smooth upbeat high.

Rather than pushing into a racy Sativa rush, Kalichakra can brighten the mood and give you a sunnier outlook, keeping the experience functional and social, without unwanted side-effects. A warm, relaxed body sensation often develops alongside the cerebral effects.

Enjoy it through an active day or simply lie back and relax. We like to call it balanced yin-yang ganja, bringing the best of both worlds together.

Kalichakra combines unique landrace genetics from South India and the Golden Triangle. Named after the Indian goddess Kali, consort of the ganja-smoking Lord Shiva, this exotic Sativa brings together Asian cannabis heritage with surprisingly easy and adaptable cultivation.

Unlike many typical Sativas, Kalichakra grows extremely well indoors and can perform satisfactorily even under lower light levels. The plants are vigorous without being difficult to manage, provide abundant clones and grow especially fast in hydroponics. Low odor during flowering also makes Kalichakra a good choice when discreet cultivation is important.

The plants develop in a classic Sativa Christmas-tree shape with medium to long internodes and an open structure that allows light to reach flowering shoots throughout the plant. Kalichakra responds well to tying down and SCROG, but training is often unnecessary unless height needs to be controlled. Nearly all plants can also be fitted into a SOG despite their branchy growth.

Flowering produces fat, conical buds that often peak in distinctive towers of calyxes. The phenotype dominated by a long head bud is particularly desirable for high yields and makes an excellent keeper for cloning or breeding. Some plants may need support toward the end of flowering as the buds gain weight. An exceptionally high calyx-to-leaf ratio makes harvesting quick and simple.

Plant height is easy to control through vegetative time or pruning. With four weeks of vegetative growth indoors, most plants remain around 100–120 cm. Flowering can be completed in approximately 68 days, although some seed plants continue to develop fatter buds when given another week. Clones tend to finish earlier.

Kalichakra also has good mold resistance and is particularly well suited to hot, warm-temperate and tropical regions. Outdoor cultivation can produce high yields up to around 42°N, while a greenhouse is recommended in far northern climates.

Most plants produce fragrant buds with a sweet-minty taste. The high starts leisurely and develops smoothly, making Kalichakra especially appealing to people who are sensitive to a racing heart or anxiety. Its positive, mood-enhancing character can bring a sunnier outlook while remaining functional and social, often accompanied by a warm and relaxed bodily sensation.

Kalichakra works beautifully as a daytime smoke for all kinds of activities, yet can just as easily accompany an afternoon of lying back and relaxing. We like to think of it as balanced yin-yang ganja, bringing together the uplifting qualities of a Sativa with a warm sense of physical ease.

Kalichakra has broad spectrum use and is know to improve mood and motivate.

Our organic cannabis seeds are fresh, fully ripened and handcrafted. Each batch is pre-tested for 100% germination and can be easily germinated directly in quality seedling soil.

In Europe, Compo Sana Seedling Mix is an excellent choice. Popular options in North America include Burpee Seed Starting Mix, Pro-Mix Organic Seed Starting Mix and Fox Farm Light Warrior Seed Starter.

Give the seed embryo the best chance to emerge from its shell. If you grow organically, investing in quality seedling soil is one of the simplest ways to get your plants off to a healthy start. We have seen many germination problems caused by peat pellets and Jiffy tabs, where the acidic pH can interfere with germination. Coco coir bricks and other compressed growing blocks can also result in poor germination rates.

There is no need to soak our seeds or use other pre-germination methods. We recommend planting them directly into seedling soil. We cannot accept responsibility for germination results when seeds are soaked in water or germinated in paper tissues.

WARNING: Do NOT lower the pH of your water with acids such as “pH-Down” products containing nitric or phosphoric acid. These can be fatal to young seedlings when growing in soil. We have used inexpensive vinegar to lower the pH of our water for 35 years. It is non-toxic and harmless to the plants when used correctly.

For soil cultivation, the correct water pH is 6.2–6.5. Please consult our Water & pH Guide for more information.

Easy to grow, awesome high and smell

I received Kalichakra as a freebie and I'm glad I got to try that strain.
Germinated 2 seeds with 100% germination rate, one was male, one female. The male one showed it's **** while it was on a 18/6 light schedule, but only one branch. Never had that, but thanks Mr. :D
It was easy to grow, doesn't need a lot of nutrition and also doesn't like too much. If you overfed her, it's not a big issue, just water it with water only for the next 2-3 times and it grows fine. My plant had really dark green buds, with lots of orange pistils. Nugs are dense and hard.
During the grow it only had a slight smell, very citrus-y.
I dried it in a wine fridge for 2 weeks, trimmed it and cured it for another month in the fridge. The aroma and smell it has now is amazing. Really strong like red forest berries with a citrus undertone. I absolutely love it and friends are amazed by it as well.
The high doesn't knock you out at all, if anything it gives you energy, inspires you and just makes you feel good and euphoric. A bit more 'confusing' than my beloved 8 Miles High, but still in my top 5 strains I've grown so far (and I do that for years).
Great work, Mandala seeds! 👍 Me and my plant thank you with a little bud heart it made ❤️

Arizona outdoor grown Kalichakra 2023

I harvested almost 500 grams from my Kalichakra plant grown at approximately 34° N in Arizona’s high desert. Blessed with abundant sunshine, my garden has fertile soil, hot days and cool nights . Kalichakra handled 40 C temperatures like a champ. The plant grew over 3 meters with stress training. I also used wires cage and bamboo supports to provide support for the large colas. The smoke remains my favorite; euphoric, clear headed and energetic.
Mandala Seeds have amazing genetics. This was my second Mandala grow. Previously I grew Rishi Kush, which is unfortunately no longer available ( hint) . I highly recommend anything from Mandala Seeds - you won’t be disappointed. Picture of one trimmed cola of Kalichakra , harvested mid September, 2023.

Decent performance strain

7 weeks into veg, plants are steadily growing and look very healthy. 2 phenotypes are identified. One is some tall, the other one grows bushier and smells stronger (all of them). Strain is not 100% consistent yet. We will see how it performs in flower. [Already had the Kali in 2005 growing, and was very happy with it. Now with legalization in Germany I ordered the same again.]

lovely plants, excellent customer service

super stoked to grow my mandala seeds out. shipping was a breeze. contacted them a couple times with questions and received prompt friendly responses. i’m currently growing 3 kalichakra's - luckily all 3 are female. just about to put them into flower. got a free feminized orient express that is already in flower. each plant is healthy and very vigorous. highly recommend mandala seeds if you like sativa. i will be a happily returning customer in the years ahead.

Outdoor photo contest of Kalichakra

I planted these kalichakra plants where the soil is not great. It looks better than it is. Its all a burned coal pile that leaches the nitrogen right from the ground. I fed it twice cut the weeds back one time. I only went 5 times. So if you take away planting and harvest I only aided them three times. This is an amazing plant that thrives without having to go very often. A very important factor in keeping them hidden. This was my first time trying this plant. I do very much recommend Kalichakra for low maintenance growing.

A Special Plant

This has been my favourite for 20 years and still is. Great all-arounder, you can just kick back and watch a movie or go out mountain biking or shooting hoops with friends. Highly (pun intended) adaptable. You feel focused, no mind-fuckery or paranoia, just good energy and vibration. Whatever you need, Kalichakra will deliver.
Put this on your bucket list!

I'd like to rate this later

The roots of this goddess have taken to Minnesota soil and it is a delight to see the growth at 3 weeks. I'd like to say more later and rate it after she's flowered. So far Mandala gets a 4 star at least and I expect I'll want to give them 5 in a few months. Impressive so far!

Excited

I've been on the hunt for some Mandala genetics for over a decade. I only recently discovered that you guys have your own website, and was very pleasantly surprised by the tremendous amount of landrace genetics available from other breeders as well. I tried Kalichakra for the first time in 2008 and not only have been searching for the seeds ever since, but that may have been the experience that sparked my passion for landrace genetics in the first place! It is far too difficult to find good landrace genetics at the dispensaries these days, it's all gelato and skittles. But I'm looking forward to making some crosses with these beans and hopefully turning some people your way as well. I am already beyond excited for Kalichakra and the rest of my order.

She grows like Jack’s Bean Stalk.

The fastest growing, largest, most vigorous and healthy plant I’ve ever grown. An absolute beast of a plant that grew over nine feet tall, 2.74 meters indoors, healthy from start to finish. Monstrous yield of beautiful buds, great high and when they cured they smelled of sweet flowers. Would make a great female for a breeding project. Great, healthy, vigorous genetics.

Thanks

Mandala Seeds came through with timely & stealthy delivery. I had ordered from another seed bank, but half of my order went missing. I'm looking forward to starting my own strain with Kalichakra and Rishi Kush. Thanks again, Mandala Seeds.

Great To Grow And Enjoy!

I First Enjoyed A Smoke Of Kalichakra Seven Years Ago And From That Encounter I Did Acquire Three Precious Seeds From A Blessed Friend And I Have Continued To Grow This Beautiful Plant. I’m A Medical Patient In Nevada And I Can Legally Grow. This Beauty Gives Little Odor During The Early Growth Period, But Later When It Does It’s Delightful. This Is My Only Sativa.

Excellent breeding strain

Though I haven't popped the latest batch I've ordered, I DO have some praise from when I used it to breed years ago. The Kalichakra I chose years ago was one of the fastest and heaviest yielding plants I've ever seen to date. I came across a particular pheno that had purple hues, serious branch structure and some of the largest top colas I'd ever seen.
This genetic revitalized my other gene pools and created absolutely savage lines from then on out. Something weak? Hit it with the "PK" as it became known - problem solved.
It was then that I began singing the praises of Mandala and saw what landrace genetics can really do. While flowering times of both the pure and hybrid offspring stayed around 70-75 days, the yields we're off the chart. I even had one buddy pull a gram per watt off fluorescent lighting ...
Because of this one strain, I've tried to obtain as much landrace work as possible - it was a major eye opener and has changed everything. Dump Cookies genetics garbage and other inbred poly-hybrid, and get growing with landrace dna ;)

Excelente

Cultivo led orgánico.
Buen vigor, mucha producción, bastante resina y buen olor/sabor.
Alguna cogió algo de botrytis, no aguanta mucho la humedad reiterada.
Cogollos duros como piedras. Colocón muy bueno.
El mejor macho lo crucé con una kush, a ver qué tal resulta el cruce...
Muy contento.

Original genetics in Kalichakra

I like that Mandala creates these extra special hybrids with landrace traits.
They do look very natural, the smell is unusual but the effect is where they shine. They feel holistic.
